Reykjavík is one of the more expensive cities in Northern Europe — expect restaurant mains in the ISK 4,000–7,000 range, geothermal pool entry around ISK 1,100–1,500 per person, and accommodation costs comparable to other Nordic capitals.
For couples on a mid-range budget, the reykjavík area offers significant value in the things that are genuinely Icelandic: the municipal pools are a fraction of spa prices, the harbour walks and street art are free, and Hlemmur Mathöll (the food hall at the east end of Laugavegur) offers proper Icelandic food at reasonable prices. The Reykjavík City Card covers unlimited pool entry and most city museums — worth calculating against your planned activities.
