About Volcano Express

Volcano Express is an immersive volcanic experience on floor K2 of Harpa Concert Hall, Austurbakki 2, 101 Reykjavík. It opened in March 2025 and is operated by EVE Harpa ehf.

01The film is real

The eruption footage in Volcano Express is not computer generated. It was filmed in Iceland during the volcanic years of 2021 to 2024, when eruptions returned to the Reykjanes peninsula after eight centuries of quiet. Our team spent those four years filming the eruptions as they happened, and the result is what you see on the screen.

02Made in Iceland, by Icelanders

The production was directed and written by Guðjón Jónsson, with additional script by Bragi Valdimar Skúlason. The music was composed by Gabríel Ólafsson and performed by the Reykjavík Orchestra, recorded in Norðurljós here in Harpa in December 2024. The narration is by Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson. The full list of everyone who made it is on our Credits page.

Volcano Express is open daily from 10:00 to 20:00, with shows every 15 minutes. A visit takes up to 45 minutes in total, including the pre-show exhibition area, the 9-minute flight, and the exit.
